Pub Prowling Prattle

British Beer Company, Manchester, NH bbc1

Parking:  Good, lots of room as the pub is located in a shopping plaza.

Bathroom:  As you enter the pub, the bathrooms are to the right, all the way down the aisle and located at the far wall.  Be alert as they are right next to the kitchen entrance. Probably would not be cool if you went in there to do your business.  The bathrooms are small, so during a rush, there could be a wait.

Seating:  Plenty of booths and bar tables.  The bar is an island with seating all around except for the area where the wait-staff enter and leave the bar area. The bar seats are spaciously distanced from each other, leaving the option open to drag another bar stool in to accommodate other guests.

Food menu:  Seems to have something for everyone and prepared very well.

Beer menu:  There is a wide variety of beers and types that would satisfy the taste of the most established beer connoisseur.  They have a list of the beers and are happy to give you a sample to try.  Please do not be like Nacluv who traipses about the bar sampling whatever one else is drinking.  A good tip would be to explain to your server the types of bbc4beers that satisfy your taste buds.  We tend to gravitate to the IPA arena but do sample others with the hope of discovering a rare blend which we did here at the British Beer Company.   We sampled a black IPA and found it to be very much within the IPA family and not have that dark beer taste we have become familiar with.  Highly recommend trying this beer.  We also sampled and chose the Dog Head Sixty Minute beer (Nacluv searched through his beer looking for the dog head before drinking it.  Not finding one, he concluded the dog head was dipped into the beer a few times to give it flavor then removed).  We also sampled and ordered the London Pride which was a darker beer with good body and a taste to match.  We sampled the Holy Grail but found it to be a bit bland, almost on the watery side, much like the Mich Ultra.   There was  a customer who did order one and after finishing it, had another.  It goes to show that all tastes are different and one person's dislikes could be another's treasures.  We met and talked with Mike and Matt, who run the Sherwin Williams paint store in Manchester.  Mike commented that if Matt showed as much focus at the store as he does with his beer, they would be millionaires by now.   We did learn that the British Beer Company has a special way of thanking regular patrons.  They have some 75 special glasses that they keep aside for personal use to selected patrons.  The customer does not own these glasses but has the right to theirs as long as they meet the pubs rules with regards to frequenting the pub.  There is a list you can add your name to and should one of the chosen falter in maintaining the requirements, the glass is surrendered and given to the next person on the list.   If you plan on becoming a regular, adding your name to the list might be something fun to do.

Summary:  All in all we enjoyed ourselves.  This is the second time we have visited them this month and found the service, food, and beer faire to be consistent.  The wait-staff are very knowledgeable in the beers they have to offer and are quick to offer suggestions and samples. Try to avoid being a Pub Pig and limit the number of samples you request.
