Thirsty Moose www.thirstymoosetaphouse.com If you hate trying new beer and hate friendly wait staff, then the Thirsty Moose is not for you. However, if you want to spend a day at a pub and feel like you’re visiting family, then, by all means, come to the Moose! Located on Congress Street in Portsmouth (one of our favorite coastal walking cities), be sure not to miss this gem, as the sign and door front are small. Once inside, though, you’ll find this place is huge.
Meet Elise Ring, the Manager and events Coordinator. She has great stories of travels all around the world as a former Travel Agent. She and all the wait staff were extremely warm and forthcoming about their lives and adventures. All were excited about the many different offerings from the 116 taps. Each had their favorites and were happy to give samples to the customers to try. We also had fun with Sam, Andrew and Liza… While there we tried the Senator Bub Black IPA and the Firestone Walker Union Jack. We have to admit, we are true fans of the IPA’s but these were exceptional. We had samples of The Founders Centennial and Lamar Blues Gubna. This place truly fulfills the motto of Pubs4u. So many beers, so little time! We just have to keep going back and sampling more. J While there, the exuberance of the wait staff and friendliness is not lost on the customers. As we sat at the bar we met Danielle, who had just completed her first marathon the day before. She was with her friend, Marie, who was looking to complete her first ½ marathon in the days to come. This place is DEFINITELY worth visiting and you will definitely want to go back again. They have live bands on the weekend and, additionally, music during the week. There truly is something for everyone, young and old. The food is true American Pub food… Hearty and tasty. I had the Mac and Cheese and the best green beans ever! Overall, The Thirsty Moose is on our favorites list. It has all the ingredients of a great Pub; great beer, great food and the friendliest wait staff around!
